Mitsuwa is a great place. It is in Edgewater, NJ. There is a supermarket where you can buy anything from onigiri (rice+seaweed+ish in a triangle) to sake (Japanese rice vodka) and soju (Korean potato vodka). There is a food area that has udon (noodles), katsu (battered ish), and a bunch of other stuff for $6-$8. It is next to the Hudson River so you can have a cheap classy date next to a supermarket, if that is your type of thing.
